The bad news - They didn't ban the procedure

Sen. Joy Padgett, a Republican, said he wanted to "protect life first" when describing his vote in favor of Senate Bill 210, which passed the Senate Tuesday by a vote of 21-11.
"I voted in favor of the legislation because there is nothing more sacred to protect than life," he told the Times Leader. "It's been shown very clearly that life begins very early. People now are even adopting cells (for fertility purposes). It's incredible. This was not a difficult vote at all."
Ohio Sen. Charles Wilson, a Democrat, also backed the bill.
"I like the idea it stops the use of state money for human embryonic research," Wilson told the Herald Leader. "I have taken a pro-life stance, and I would oppose anything that would pertain to the intentional killing or destroying of a human life."
...but all they did was close the door for state funding. They left the door open for individual corporations to do the research themselves, without government funding. Embryonic stem cell research is not only legal, but since they didn't pass legislation against the procedure they have given the green light to corporations to seek their own funding and continue on, business as usual.

Planned Parenthood is struggling to maintain their murder clinics in Mississippi.

"When the Jackson Women's Health Clinic (not affiliated with Planned Parenthood) first opened its doors in 1995, there were still four clinics in Mississippi that offered abortion services. But since last August, the Jackson clinic has been the only one to serve the entire state."
# The Democratic Party in Mississippi claims itself a "party of life."
# Eighty-six percent of Mississippi women live in a county without an abortion provider.
# Abortions after 16 weeks are virtually nonexistent, because no facility performs them.
# The state passed legislation last year to stop clinics from performing abortions after 12 weeks. (It was recently struck down by a U.S. district judge as unconstitutional.)
# The state is one of only two in the U.S. that requires a minor to obtain permission from both of her parents to get an abortion.
# Women must endure a 24-hour waiting period before they can have an abortion. During that time they are given state-mandated information that is often distorted or even false, such as the erroneous claim that there is a connection between abortion and breast cancer.
# The state requires that a physician give out this information, which adds to the cost of the abortion, especially for a clinic such as the Jackson Women's Health Clinic, which flies in two of its three physicians from other states.
# Mississippi also has the nation's most sweeping so-called "conscience clause," which allows any health care provider to refuse to provide abortion-related services, including referrals, to those in need.

CLOSES PERMANENTLY
Only two abortion clinics remain in Milwaukee.
Since the
Missionaries to the Preborn began in 1988,
6 of 8 abortion clinics in Milwaukee have closed.
Last Saturday, October 29th, 2005, the Summit Women's Health Organization, an abortion clinic located at 530 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, closed it's doors for good. The clinic has not declared any public reason for it's shutting down, but since the year 2000, Missionaries to the Preborn has targeted the clinic with daily pickets. For the last five years, they have been there every day to offer help to the mothers as they approach the clinic. They have also frequently picketed the homes of the abortionists and the clinic workers.
Missionaries to the Preborn has also conducted investigations into the operating procedures of the Summit abortuary, and has publicized the malpractice lawsuits against the abortionists which "practiced" there.
From the early to mid-90's, Summit was the scene of countless rescues where the Missionaries and other Christians blockaded the doors of the clinic to defend the helpless preborn from a grisly death. Hundreds were arrested.

Missionaries To The Preborn is a "boots on the ground" organization who believes we need to confront the evil of abortion head-on and show people what abortion means. They also "offer help to the mothers and fathers" who might want to abort their children.
Part of their mission statement reads like this:
The Lord Jesus Christ taught “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mt. 22:37-40) , and Scripture declares “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter” (Prov. 24:11-12),
THEREFORE
we come together as a last line of defense on behalf of those babies taken into America’s abortion clinics. We will speak up for our preborn neighbor, and offer help to the mothers and fathers who bring their sons and daughters to these death camps.
Scripture declares “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them” (Eph. 5:8-14) , and “show her (the bloody city) all her abominations” (Ez. 22:1-5),
THEREFORE
we come together to expose the unjust slaughter of helpless preborn babies by abortion, and to call our nation to repentance for violating God’s holy Law in that Americans either participate in or tolerate this bloodshed. We will display photographs of the remains of those babies who have died at the hands of the abortionists.
I'm sure this clinic closing will save many lives and I pray that the last 2 clinics in Milwaukee close their doors soon.
