It's the first Friday of the month and it's time to call for LIFE!

Thank you for all you do for the unborn. Without us speaking out for them, they would die in silence. In the end, our representatives, through our prodding, will do the right thing and end abortion.

I would like to ask everyone to do one more thing for the unborn this month. Please contact at least 2 people who might do just a little bit more to help the unborn and encourage them to join us in the Monthly Call for Life. It's only once a month, and it's so easy! There is plenty going on in the Pro-Life world right now. Of course the Call for Life is today, on Sunday is the Life Chain at http://LifeChain.net and Pro-Life Memorial Day is on Monday. I will be speaking at the Supreme Court with other Pro-Life groups, joining with American Life League for this event. Then we have the National Day of Silent Solidarity at http://silentday.org on October 21st. Over 2500schools will be participating this year!

The Pro-Life Legislative Action Team Forum (PLATForum) is official! Johanna Dasteel, Senior Congressional Liaison for American Life League and I are working together to help represent Pro-Life on the hill. The time has come for Pro-Life people and organizations to have a 100% Pro-Life voice, one which not only provides education on research and ethical issues to our representatives, but also to help us understand what is being voted on, and give us a chance to let them know where we stand on these issues when they are proposed.

Last week, Dr. David Prentice from the Family Research Council spoke about ethical research at the FRC, where the opening was held. The videos for event that are going up over the next few days, but you can see his short talk and some interviews on the site now.

We will build a separate site for the PLATForum soon, but until then, you can see our articles and videos at ProLifeUnity.com.

Speaking of videos, I'd like for y'all to welcome Michael, our new cameraman and producer. He has been incredible, posting videos on our sites faster than I can write the supporting articles for them! EyeBlast has a great bunch of more conservative videos, & again, with decent quality. We are honored that they added us as a Channel, available from the pulldown at the top-right.

After that event, Johanna and I rushed over to the congressional Cannon terrace. The event was the introduction of the Prenatal Nondiscrimination bill, sponsored by Congressman Trent Franks. Present were Dr. Alveda King, Dr. Johnny Hunter, Day Gardner and many more. We interviewed them and others, and those videos will be going up in the next week.

Then it was on to the 40 Days for Life Kickoff Rally at Lafayette Park, right across the street from the White House. About a hundred people gathered for speeches, followed by a procession to the 16th Street abortion mill. Yep, more videos to follow from that event as well.

If you haven't signed up for a 40 Days for Life shift at an abortion mill, go to 40DaysForLife.com and do so. Hundreds of thousands of us are doing our part to take part in 24 hour prayer vigils. I guarantee that hundreds of people will be saved from death by abortion because of our efforts!

Why do we call and/or email for life? Will it really make a difference? Look at it this way, if we do nothing, we will get nothing. If we don't let our representatives know what we think, they will do whatever they want. We can't just push the button at the voting booth & walk away.

Imagine, there you are, standing quietly on the side of the road, holding a sign, and suddenly, like communist China, police pull up, put everyone in handcuffs and haul you off, no formal charges and no reason given.

Wichita - Pro-Life Unity Conference June 5th

The Kansas Coalition for Life is hosting the 3rd Pro-Life Unity conference at the courthouse in Wichita, Kansas on June the 4th. We will be discussing the need for united Pro-Life nationwide and around the world. One of the topics will be the Monthly Call for Life at MonthlyCallForLife.com. This monthly effort encourages people to call and/or email their representatives on the first Friday of every month in order to challenge them to end abortion and human killing research.

Mark Gietzen, the President of the Kansas Coalition for Life will introduce the Signature Ad for 2008, and will encourage people to sign this ad which will appear in top Kansas publications.

Gail Richardson will also discuss the monthly Prayer Pivot, which encourages people to pray for an end to abortion around the world through all the time zones, starting at 12:00 am on the first Friday and ending at 12:00 am the next morning.

Every month on the first Friday we call and/or email our representatives to ask them to oppose abortion and human killing research. If we don't let our representatives know that they should do the right thing, who will? It's not just our vote that counts, it's our voice and our email.

Why is this going to make a difference anyway?

Well, first of all, doing nothing gets us nothing. There are millions of us pieces of the pro-life puzzle working in our individual efforts around the country. Coming together and speaking as one on a regular basis unites and amplifies our message.

Hit-And-Run Claim Filed Against Abortionist George Tiller

A claim for damages was filed against George Tiller, a partial-birth abortionist, by Mark Gietzen, President of the Kansas Coalition for Life, on October 30th, 2007 in Sedgwick County, Kansas. The claim alledges that Tiller struck Gietzen while Gietzen was standing in front of the Women's Health Care Services, an abortion mill which is owned by Tiller. According to Gietzen, the hit-and-run incident caused him to sustain injuries to his arms and legs.

It is time to stop trying to please those who oppose life. We try to blend in or not make waves to appeal to the masses in so many different ways. To name a few:

> We try to not be too "Christian"
> We try to not be so "conservative"
> We try to appeal to Democrats
> We are constantly arguing with people who disagree with us
> We try to skirt around the health of the mother, life of the mother issue

We don't have to defend our position. People who are for abortion or do nothing to help end it are turning their backs on the killing of human beings. We don't choose to do that. It's that simple!

DefendLife.org Face the Truth Tour 2007 To Be Held July 30th - August 3rd

The Washington D.C. area Face the Truth Tour is hosted by DefendLife.org and will be held next week from July the 30th to August the 3rd. Stops will include Charlestown, WV, Naval Observatory, Holocaust Museum, Harford Comm. College and many more. Go to DefendLife.org for the entire schedule and to read more.

A Face the Truth Tour is an event where Pro-Life people show up at heavily trafficed areas, pull out large signs of aborted babies, and proceed to show people driving and walking by what abortion really is. This event is held around the country in different cities.

This year, ProLifeNews.tv will be broadcasting live video and audio from the field so people can see what a Face the Truth Tour really looks like. Go to the ProLifeNews.tv website on Monday for broadcast times and events.

The event is highly controversial, even in the Pro-Life movement. Many people say that the signs shouldn't be used in public because children might be exposed to them. Pro-Life people who use the signs say that not only have they saved lives after men and women have seen them, but that they are necessary to show people what the truth of abortion looks like.

Virginia Abortionist Surrenders License

Mi Yong Kim, an abortionist who used to perform abortions at Eaton Place in Virginia, has voluntarily surrendered her license. She has had extensive healthcare violations which led to this action.

Second NJ Abortion Clinic shut down in 4 Months Exposes Negligence in Protecting Public Health.

CRANFORD, New Jersey, June 29 /Christian Newswire/—New Jersey Right to Life Executive Director Marie Tasy issued the following statement upon learning that the State of NJ shut down Alternatives Abortion Clinic in Atlantic City, NJ.

“Although this is the second abortion clinic to be shut down in the last four months for health violations, the real story here is that the NJ Department of Health has been derelict in its duty to protect the public health of NJ citizens because it has not inspected this clinic in at least six years and only did so when they were contacted through an anonymous complaint,” said Tasy.

Metropolitan Medical Clinic in Englewood was shut down for about a month last February after Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ filed a complaint about a patient who almost died as a result of an abortion performed at Metropolitan. Twenty year old, Rasheedah Dinkins, was given blood transfusions after severe hemorrhaging and also had to have her uterus removed. She also suffered a stroke due to serious blood loss and had one of her lungs collapse. She was in a four week coma. It was that complaint that spurred an inspection. When the Health Department entered the clinic, they shut it down citing problems “including but not limited to infection control, instruments, equipment used for sterilization of patient care use items and the processing of equipment.” The Health Department found violations that posed “immediate and serious risk of harm to patients.”

As reported by the Press of Atlantic City (June 26, 2007), Alternatives in Atlantic City, NJ was shut down after several violations were found at the clinic, “including problems with infection control, documentation and the facility itself.”

“NJRTL filed an OPRA request in April with the Department of Health after the Record of Hackensack revealed that health inspections had not been performed at Metropolitan Medical Associates in Engelwood, NJ. We learned that this negligent practice was the norm rather than the exception,” said Tasy. In fact, the correspondence to NJRTL from the Department of Health indicated they did not have inspection reports for Alternatives or Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey for the period, January 1, 2002 through April 4, 2007, which was the specified period requested by NJRTL.

According to their websites, Metropolitan Medical Associates performs abortions through 24 weeks and Alternatives performs abortions through 18 weeks gestation. Many of the women who frequent these clinics are Medicaid patients. The State of New Jersey has an obligation to reach out to the many women who have entered these clinics to find out whether any of them have experienced any complications or developed a sexually transmitted disease through the use of unsterilized instruments and infection control violations.

In a March 15, 2007 letter sent to Governor Corzine, NJRTL Executive Director Marie Tasy pointed out that this is a public safety issue which has the potential to reach epic proportions. “This is a sad commentary on our state of affairs and our public officials who claim to be advocates for ‘women’s rights,’” Tasy commented.

Five Pendedrgraft Abortion Facilities Closed In Florida

Two Orlando abortion facilities, Orlando Women's Center and EPOC have been shut down indefinitely, and the state Agency for Health Care Administration also barred abortion at the other facilities, located in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Ocala for a week. Dr. Pendergraft's medical license has also been suspended because of accusations that he performed illegal late-term abortions.

The Washington Times reports

"An emergency order issued Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health suspending Dr. James S. Pendergraft IV's license stated he showed "a flagrant disregard for the laws of the state of Florida and a willingness to endanger the lives and health of pregnant patients"

Within the last week, Pendergraft has come under scruteny and investigation after a baby was born and subsequently killed by facility owner, Belkis Gonzalez. Jill Stanek reported that witnesses allege the baby was "placed kicking and gasping for air in a biohazard bag at an abortion clinic in Hialeah, Florida, on July 20". She also stated that:

> The medical examiner has determined this baby was born alive.
> The person putting the live baby in a biohazard bag has been identified as clinic owner Belkis Gonzales.
> Clinic workers allegedly hid the baby on the roof the first time police searched the premises.
> A police department official says if state attorneys come back with anything other than homicide charges, he will pitch a public fit.

Marti MacKenzie, a spokeswoman for Dr. Pendergraft, said he has "encontered obstacles" since opening his first abortion clinic in Orlando nearly 15 years ago.

This is a Bush-run state that is constantly anti-choice," she said. "Dr. Pendargraft is many women's last hope, but there are always movements afoot to hinder him."

Last year, a former patient filed inhumane-treatment charges against Dr. Pendergraft. She said she gave birth to a live 23-week-old in a clinic restroom after a failed abortion. She stated that the baby died after nobody responded to her calls for help.

The state also took actions against Pendergraft yesterday (August 16th) over a 2004 abortion in which he said a woman was 22 weeks pregnant. He gave her a drug to take at home to initiative contractions and begin the abortion.

The woman ended up having the abortion at home before she could go back to the abortion center and a hospital later estimated the age of the baby at 25 to 27 weeks, according to the newspaper.

The state said Pendergraft "endangered two female patients by performing third-trimester abortions outside a hospital setting and without concurring certification from a second physician."

Forgive me, I get excited when I see the successes in our movement. When our efforts succeed, human lives are saved from cruel death, so obviously it feels good when we manage to slow down or stop the abortion killing machines.

In Wichita, Kansas, Operation Rescue, led by Troy Newman, succeeded in closing an abortion mill by buying the building where it was operating. The mill, Central Women's Services, was in the building that Operation Rescue purchased through a 3rd party. A stipulation in the purchase agreement was that the "current tenant not be retained".

The number of babies estimated killed at this mill stands at 50,000.

Thank God and the efforts of Operation rescue. That abortion mill won't kill another human being at this location. They map pop up elsewhere, but many lives will have been saved in the interim.

Operation Rescue is going to turn the building into a new headquarters and a "memorial to the pre-born.".

Birmingham Abortion Mill Update - Closed for Good

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A Birmingham abortion clinic has surrendered its license amid allegations that a woman delivered a nearly full-term stillborn baby after a clinic staffer gave her an abortion-inducing drug and performed other medical treatments without a doctor present, health officials said Wednesday.

The Alabama Department of Health issued a suspension order against Summit Medical Center on May 17, citing numerous violations of state health rules. The center has been closed since it was shutdown the next day and will not reopen, said Rick Harris, director of the state health agency's bureau of provider standards.

It is good news that this facility was closed down. The circumstances which lead to the closing were not.

The patient, who was not identified in the suspension order, received an ultrasound examination from a clinic worker rather than a physician, as Williamson said is required by the law.

A staff member then gave the patient RU-486, an abortion-inducing drug, and follow-up medications that are supposed to be administered only by doctors, he said.

While the patient was told during the examination that she was only six weeks pregnant, she went to a hospital emergency room six days later and delivered a stillborn infant that weighed six pounds, four ounces, according to the order.

The state health officer said the clinic might not reopen and added "We feel we need to move toward revoking their license," said Williamson".

Kansas Abortions Down 8% in 2005

Abortions numbers have steadily declined since Operation Rescue relocated there.
Topeka, KS - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment released figures earlier this month showing that abortions in Kansas dropped 8% in 2005. This translates into 904 fewer abortions last year than in 2004. Statistics also show that since Operation Rescue relocated its ministry to Kansas in 2002, there has been a 16% decline in the number of abortions. For almost two decades prior to that time, abortions had been steadily increasing in Kansas.

"We have noticed that abortions were down at Women's Health Care Services, George Tiller's late- term abortion mill in Wichita," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We believe many of our ministry projects are at least partially responsible for the abortion decrease." Women come from all over the world for late-term abortions at WHCS in Wichita. KDHE statistics indicate that the greatest decline in abortions has been among women coming from outside Kansas.
"Our focus has been on George Tiller since we arrived in 2002, and that work is paying off in saved lives," said Newman. "We have reversed the trend of increasing abortion numbers in this state, and that has been no small task, given Tiller's entrenchment here. God has abundantly blessed our efforts."

In 2005, the year of the greatest decrease, Operation Rescue exposed several botched abortions, including one abortion death, at Women's Health Care Services, leading to legislation that would have strongly regulated the Kansas abortion industry. This legislation was vetoed by pro-abortion Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Tiller.
Public pressure generated by Operation Rescue and other groups that year exposed and closed one filthy, rat-infested abortion mill in Kansas City, Kansas.
In addition, Operation Rescue continued to investigate and release information about the tragic third-trimester abortion death of Christin Gilbert, leading to a petition drive that will convene a Grand Jury to investigate Tiller as soon as the signatures are verified.
"A 16% overall drop in abortions since we have been in Kansas is significant and encouraging," said Newman. "These numbers give strong evidence that our tactics, while often controversial, are very effective."

Virginia Novena & a Save

At the Virginia abortion mill, Lifeguard, the local sidewalk counseling effort, is having a 9 week Novena. Normally a Novina is 9 straight days, but in this case, it is used to rally believers and Pro-Life individuals to recognize the need to pray for those at the abortion mills and their potential customers.

On the 15th about 40 people showed up at the Falls Church mill, which is located at 900 S. Washington Street. Individuals present included a Bishop and many Catholics from local parishes, and some Protestants.

At one point during the day a Hispanic couple went to enter the mill. They stopped when some of the sidewalk counseling representatives called out to them. They listened to the counselors, decided not to have the abortion and turned away from the clinic!

Abortion Alternatives

One of the problems with the topic of abortion is that alternatives aren't presented enough. We don't explain to our children that they will most likely have a child if they have sex. School programs paid for by your tax dollars, to the tune of 275 million dollars a year, teach our children that sex can be safe and pregnancy can be avoided. They don't teach how women die from RU486, how women get diseases even if they practice "safe sex" and how a large percentage of women get pregnant even if they use condoms.

Finally a little sanity is coming to play, even if it is after the fact, when a woman is already pregnant. LifeNews.com reports "The House of Representatives on Thursday approved an amendment to a college education bill that would help students find abortion alternatives."

For years, college students have had the highest number of abortions of any age range of women. When students become pregnant, they frequently have abortions out of a fear that having a baby would force them to sacrifice their education or career plans.

The amendment, sponsored by Rep. Melissa Hart, a Pennsylvania Republican, is designed to alleviate those concerns.

ÂMy amendment will provide services like affordable on-campus childcare and maternity coverage in their student health plans so they can concentrate on being good parents and good students," Hart said.

Hart said that about 27 percent of all undergraduates are parents and 34 percent of all graduate students are parents.

The amendment is designed to fund resources that should help college students realize abortion isn't the solution. It funds child care, maternity coverage in student health insurance plans, family housing, telecommuting programs, and additional financial aid.

The idea behind the amendment, originally the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Pregnant and Parenting Student Services bill, came from Feminists for Life of America.

It can be counted as a Pro-Life success, but in my opinion, we should teach our children to not have sex until they're married and ready to have children instead of giving them handouts.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute, a research arm of Planned Parenthood, surveyed women to find out why they had an abortion. Over 70 percent of college-aged women cited their fear that having a child would interfere with their education or career.

Sex is optional. Abortion is not.

You get what you encourage/finance. I have a feeling we'll get more pregnant college-age children out of this.

Not that they have turned against contraception, they just have decided to stop funding it.

"If doctors want to give contraception privately or personally, they can", Phillips said. "But we don't need to pay for contraception with taxpayer funds."

There is plenty in that article which shows how little some Republicans understand what contraception is:

Rep. Bob Johnson, a Lee's Summit Republican, offered an amendment that deleted infertility treatments, but reinstated contraceptives. Most of the money, he said, would go to county health departments serving women with no alternatives to obtain health care. "If we don't allow for contraception for low-income women, we will have more unplanned pregnancies and more pregnancies ended by abortion," Johnson said. "No one here wants more abortions."

He drew support from Rep. Rob Schaaf, a St. Joseph Republican and a family doctor. Schaaf said contraceptives were a basic part of medical care and should be covered.

A "basic part of medical care"? I wonder when they'll be lining up the disabled to have them put to sleep?

The article is acnauseating nausiating. So many people in power talking about abortion and contraception as if they casual topics, not LIFE AND DEATH.

Like I always say, simply ending abortion isn't going to stop the problem of "unwanted pregnancies", primarily because people are going to have sex without understanding what the responsibilities of sex are.

On Wednesday, January 4, there was a save at Planned Parenthood. A couple came in, accepted a flyer from me and heard some counseling on the fly. I spoketo the guy again on one occasion when he came out to feed the meter. He went back in. Some time later they both came out and left. They told me they changed their mind about having an abortion and planned to keep their baby. I gave the woman a pair of baby
booties which she gladly took.

Umbilical Cord Blood Bill Signed by President Bush

President Bush signed the Umbilical Cord Blood Bill known as the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act which was written by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ).

Umbilical cords are a rich, non-controversial source of stem cells. Currently hospitals throw millions of them away each year because the infrastructure required to properly collect and store them is not available. When signed into law by President Bush, the bill will increase the number of cord blood units and cord blood stem cells available for treating patients and research will greatly increase.

Democrats have been standing in the way of Pro-Life efforts for a long time and finally we have made Pro-Life progress in a big way! They have been pushing for Embryonic (human) stem cell research government funding but President Bush has pledged to veto any HESR bill that comes in front of him.

"We will now be able to turn medical waste - umbilical cords and placentas - into medical miracles for huge numbers of very sick and terminally ill patients, who suffer from such maladies as leukemia and sickle cell anemia," said Smith.

HESR research has not cured a thing and billions of dollars have been thrown at it around the world. Cord blood and other adult stem cell research has helped many and continues to do so every day.

Thousands have been successfully treated with cord blood stem cells for more than 67 diseases including Leukemia and Sickle Cell Anemia. This was a great victory for the Pro-Life movement.

"It occurred to me," said Smith after the passage of the bill, "while driving to work this afternoon that it is especially fitting, that during these days of holiness and religious significance, that Congress sends to the President a bill designed to effectuate cures from some of the most devastating diseases and cancers on earth."

Smith added: "Not only has God in His infinite wisdom and goodness created the placenta and umbilical cord to nurture and protect the
precious life of an unborn child, but now we know that another gift awaits us immediately after birth, something very special is left behind - cord blood that is rich with stem cells.

"Indeed, one of the best kept secrets in America today is that umbilical cord blood stem cells and adult stem cells are curing people of a myriad of terrible conditions and diseases."

Cord Blood Bill Passed by the Senate

The Culture of death almost won again. They tried to block HR 2520, a bill that will provide blood for collection and storage of umbilical cord blood "because they favor an embryonic stem cell research proposal".

The house overwhelmingly passed HR 2520 to save lives through cord blood research only to almost have it rejected by the culture-of-death Democrats in the Senate.

The problem is, we have culture-of-death Republicans in office too.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, who sponsored the cord blood measure in the Senate and supports the embryonic stem cell legislation, said, "I think we should take the majority leader's word that he'll bring [HR 810] up" next year, CQ Today reported.

No decent Republican should support any bill which gives our government permission to kill human beings for experimentation. Sen. Bill Frist should have demanded a vote on HR 2520 based on it's merits, not on a condition that HR 810 would be brought up.

We should not make deals with the devil.

Argue till you're blue in the face, embryonic stem cell research is wrong, as are fertility treatments. These so-called "extra" embryos would not be available if there were no fertility treatments.

Let's read part of HR 810:

SEC. 498D. HUMAN EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH.

`(a) In General- Notwithstanding any other provision of law (including any regulation or guidance), the Secretary shall conduct and support research that utilizes human embryonic stem cells in accordance with this section (regardless of the date on which the stem cells were derived from a human embryo) .

`(b) Ethical Requirements- Human embryonic stem cells shall be eligible for use in any research conducted or supported by the Secretary if the cells meet each of the following:

`(1) The stem cells were derived from human embryos that have
been donated from in vitro fertilization clinics, were created for the purposes of fertility treatment, and were in excess of the clinical need of the individuals seeking such treatment.

`(2) Prior to the consideration of embryo donation and through consultation with the individuals seeking fertility treatment, it was determined that the embryos would never be implanted in a woman and would otherwise be discarded.

`(3) The individuals seeking fertility treatment donated the embryos with written informed consent and without receiving any financial or other inducements to make the donation.

They have the gall to say "Ethical Requirements".

Why would a human being be discarded?

We must accept the fact that life begins at conception, not when a baby exits the womb of the mother. We must speak out against this kind of research!

Major Breakthrough for Adult Stem Cell Research!

Finally a breakthrough that could sink the Embryonic (human) Stem Cell Research for good.

At the University of Illinois, researches have managed to get stem cells from adult mice to change into brain, nerve, heart muscle and pancreatic cells.

Those researching Embryonic (human) Stem Cells have been holding up the healing possibilities of their research, but have not yielded one single "healing" yet.

“We have found a counterpart for embryonic stem cells in adult bone marrow. This could negate the ethical concerns,” said Mariusz Ratajczak, leader of the research team and director of the stem cell biology program at Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

The next step is to replicate the experiment with similar cells identified in adult humans.

“It’s huge. It’s an amazing discovery,” said Ryan Reca, one of the researchers.

I have always held to the main point, which is that human beings should not be used for experiments. It doesn't matter if you come up with some miracle cure using Embryonic Stem Cells. If you have to kill human beings for your experiments, you're no better than Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Germans.

“Specifically, embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro - in an in vitro fertilization clinic - and then donated for research purposes with the informed consent of the donors,” according to a stem cell primer from the National Institutes of Health.

How you can donate another person to be killed for experimentation is beyond me. This is pure evil and our country is silent as Joseph Mengele wanna-bes experiment with living human beings, even supported by state funds in some states like California.

But many researchers and liberal religious groups have persisted in urging such funding, saying embryonic stem cells hold the best potential for medical research. They also say some of the older stem cell lines funded under Bush’s policy have been contaminated and are not as useful as producing new ones would be.

It's no surprise the culture of death is interested in killing living human beings for their research. President Bush should never have given in to them in the first place!

The research announced Monday appears to show that VSELs can be grown in the laboratory, multiply into clusters of cells and then be caused to change into other types of cells such as brain or cardiac muscle cells.

“We’ve established how to isolate and how to unleash the power of this cell,” Ratajczak said.

Will this shut up the pro-abortion / pro-embryonic (human) research crowd? Not on your life...literally if you are an unborn embryo in their hands.

As Tim from ProLifeBlogs.com pointed out, Columbia is a country which recently dodged the abortion bullet.

Washington, D.C. — American Life League, the nation's largest pro-life educational organization, played a key role in a recent ruling thatwill protect the lives of countless preborn children in Colombia. "It is fair to say that ALL and other international pro-life organizations successfully prevented the 'Roe v. Wade' of Colombia from taking effect," said Gualberto Garcia-Jones, director of legislative affairs for American Life League. "Despite the best efforts of numerous American pro-abortion groups, the killing of children through abortion is illegal in Colombia."

American Life League and Human Life International took on this fight when it was discovered that many pro-abortion organizations were aiming to overturn the current Colombian law, which protects preborn babies in the womb. The Center for Reproductive Rights, International Planned Parenthood Federation, the Allan Guttmacher Institute, Human Rights Watch, and "Catholics" for a Free Choice are just a few of the American groups that were working to overturn the law and decriminalize abortion in Colombia.

Can you imagine the millions that were spent by those pro-abortion organizations who tried to bring abortion to Columbia? I'm glad some of their money went out into the world without them benefiting from it.

Republicans and Democrats are coming out with proclimations of their Pro-Life stance...:

Sen. Joy Padgett, a Republican, said he wanted to "protect life first" when describing his vote in favor of Senate Bill 210, which passed the Senate Tuesday by a vote of 21-11.

"I voted in favor of the legislation because there is nothing more sacred to protect than life," he told the Times Leader. "It's been shown very clearly that life begins very early. People now are even adopting cells (for fertility purposes). It's incredible. This was not a difficult vote at all."

Ohio Sen. Charles Wilson, a Democrat, also backed the bill.

"I like the idea it stops the use of state money for human embryonic research," Wilson told the Herald Leader. "I have taken a pro-life stance, and I would oppose anything that would pertain to the intentional killing or destroying of a human life."

...but all they did was close the door for state funding. They left the door open for individual corporations to do the research themselves, without government funding. Embryonic stem cell research is not only legal, but since they didn't pass legislation against the procedure they have given the green light to corporations to seek their own funding and continue on, business as usual.

"When the Jackson Women's Health Clinic (not affiliated with Planned Parenthood) first opened its doors in 1995, there were still four clinics in Mississippi that offered abortion services. But since last August, the Jackson clinic has been the only one to serve the entire state."

# The Democratic Party in Mississippi claims itself a "party of life."

# Eighty-six percent of Mississippi women live in a county without an abortion provider.

# Abortions after 16 weeks are virtually nonexistent, because no facility performs them.

# The state passed legislation last year to stop clinics from performing abortions after 12 weeks. (It was recently struck down by a U.S. district judge as unconstitutional.)

# The state is one of only two in the U.S. that requires a minor to obtain permission from both of her parents to get an abortion.

# Women must endure a 24-hour waiting period before they can have an abortion. During that time they are given state-mandated information that is often distorted or even false, such as the erroneous claim that there is a connection between abortion and breast cancer.

# The state requires that a physician give out this information, which adds to the cost of the abortion, especially for a clinic such as the Jackson Women's Health Clinic, which flies in two of its three physicians from other states.

Only two abortion clinics remain in Milwaukee.
Since the Missionaries to the Preborn began in 1988,
6 of 8 abortion clinics in Milwaukee have closed.

Last Saturday, October 29th, 2005, the Summit Women's Health Organization, an abortion clinic located at 530 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, closed it's doors for good. The clinic has not declared any public reason for it's shutting down, but since the year 2000, Missionaries to the Preborn has targeted the clinic with daily pickets. For the last five years, they have been there every day to offer help to the mothers as they approach the clinic. They have also frequently picketed the homes of the abortionists and the clinic workers.

Missionaries to the Preborn has also conducted investigations into the operating procedures of the Summit abortuary, and has publicized the malpractice lawsuits against the abortionists which "practiced" there.

From the early to mid-90's, Summit was the scene of countless rescues where the Missionaries and other Christians blockaded the doors of the clinic to defend the helpless preborn from a grisly death. Hundreds were arrested.

THEREFORE

we come together to expose the unjust slaughter of helpless preborn babies by abortion, and to call our nation to repentance for violating God’s holy Law in that Americans either participate in or tolerate this bloodshed. Bryan Kemper from StandTrue.com says that the "Day of Silence" on Tuesday was very successful. The annual Day of Silence is an effort to encourage students to take Pro-Life action across America.

"Tens of thousands of students at over 1,200 campuses helped bring a voice to the horrible violence that takes place in this nation every day."

Here are some things that students experienced and said:

I had written on my left hand, "There are no 'excusable' abortions," and on my right hand, "Psalm 139:15-16."

Abortion Clinic Closed in Missouri

We previously pointed to a proLife bill signed into law by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt which we thought would help the proLife cause. It has already had an effect only on month later!

Southwest Missouri's sole abortion clinic has closed, a victory for groups opposed to abortion rights and a development that will require women who seek the procedure to travel to other cities.

Abortion Facility to Close in Ohio

An abortion facility in Cincinnati will be closing its doors due to proLife successes.

A new state abortion law requiring abortion practitioners to give women information in person about abortion's risks and alternatives prior to an abortion will close down an abortion business in Cincinnati. The director of the center says she doesn't have enough staff to devote to providing the women the information.

Debi Jackson of Cincinnati Women's Services told the Akron Beacon Journal that the facility "would have to essentially become an abortion mill" if she had to dedicate non-abortion related staff to meeting with women in advance to give them the information.

She says she'd rather close up shop than do that.

Abortion facilities do one thing, abortions. They don't want to counsel women on why they should not have an abortion because that is not what they do for a living.

Missouri Gov. Signs Abortion Bill, Planned Parenthood Files Lawsuit
Jefferson City, MO (LifeNews.com) -- Missouri Governor Matt Blunt signed a bill Thursday that would help reduce the number of abortions there by helping parents of teens considering abortion and women suffering from botched abortions. However, abortion businesses wasted no time in taking the measure to court to prevent it from being enforced.

Blunt praised the passage of the bill, calling it a "a good pro-life piece of legislation that will reduce the number of abortions in our state" and help in "cultivating a culture that values human life and the rights of the unborn." The legislation features two key provisions. One prevents adults other than a minor girl's parents from taking her to another state for an abortion. The other requires abortion practitioners to have admitting privileges in a local hospital within a 30 mile radius of the abortion facility.

Michelle Turner-Collins, administrator of Springfield Healthcare Center, an abortion facility there, says the second provision essentially has closed the center. There is no local hospital within 30 miles of the abortion facility that has granted the abortion practitioner there to have admitting privileges. "Effectively, we're closed," she told the Springfield News-Leader newspaper. She indicated the abortion business performs approximately 1,500 abortions annually but that they stopped doing them once the law took effect yesterday. Twenty women had abortions scheduled next week and they are being referred to abortion centers in other parts of the state. Read the complete story.

Only five states require abortion counseling to be done in person: Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Utah, and Wisconsin. The remaining states which require counseling but not a waiting period are: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Maine, Nevada, and Rhode Island.

Though there are many success stories, we have to keep the pressure on!. We have to speak loudly to our representatives until Roe vs Wade is overturned and abortion is no longer legal in the United States of America.
